Santa Clara County Superior Court Announces Oath of Office Ceremony for Mark Flanagan
SAN JOSÉ, Calif. (August 28, 2025) : Mark Flanagan was sworn in as a Judge of the Superior Court of California, County of Santa Clara, during an Oath of Office Ceremony on Thursday, August 28, 2025, following his appointment by Governor Gavin Newsom.
Judge Flanagan served as a Partner at Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale & Dorr from 2006 to 2025. He previously was a Lecturer at the University of California, Berkeley School of Law from 2017 to 2019. His extensive legal experience also included serving as a Partner at Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati from 1998 to 2006 and as a Partner at Slenkovich & Flanagan from 1995 to 1998. From 1991 to 1995, he served as an Assistant United States Attorney for the Central District of California. He began his legal career as an Associate at Thelen Marrin Johnson & Bridges from 1987 to 1991.

Judge Flanagan filled the judicial vacancy created by the retirement of Judge Arthur Bocanegra. The Santa Clara County Superior Court congratulates Judge Flanagan on his appointment and looks forward to the perspective and leadership he brings to the bench.
