I declare under penalty of perjury under the laws of the State of California that any statements I have made to the court in connection with my application are true and correct and that any material misrepresentation of fact may disqualify me from serving as a temporary judge. I further understand that by checking this box and printing my name below, that I agree to the Oath and Certification for the Office of Temporary Judge listed below.

Neither court appointment nor service of an attorney as a temporary judge establishes an employment relationship between the court and the attorney. Attorneys are appointed and serve voluntarily as temporary judges solely at the discretion of the presiding judge. ( CRC 2.811  )

Signature and Oath

Oath and Certification:

For the Office of Temporary Judge, I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of the State of California against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of the State of California; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties that I am about to undertake. I do hereby certify that I am aware of and will comply with the provisions of Canon 6 of the Code of Judicial Ethics and the California Rules of Court including, but not limited to, the limitations of service set forth in  CRC 2.818  , which provide that an attorney may not serve as a court-appointed temporary judge, unless waived by the parties or by the Presiding Judge for good cause, if:

(1) the attorney, in any type of case, is appearing on the same day in the same courthouse as an attorney or as a party;
(2) the attorney, in the same type of case, is presently a party to any action or proceeding in the court; or
(3) in a family law or unlawful detainer case, one party is self-represented and the other party is represented by an attorney or is an attorney.

I certify that I have reviewed the  Standing Order to Allow for Temporary Judge Policy Exceptions (2017)  and the  Standing Order to Allow for Temporary Judge Policy Exceptions (2023)  , and will notify the Temporary Judge Program whenever I am disqualified or limited from service.
